Did you know that over 44,000 young people are homeless on any given night in Australia? Homelessness massively impacts individuals themselves and society more broadly (including you and me. Lighthouse Foundation offers a really innovative and rather radical approach to supporting young people to help end youth homelessness. Special guests Simon Benjamin from Lighthouse Foundation and Nick Pertrucco from HCMC Group to talk about this, along with what it means to create services that aren’t one size fits all, why slowing things down and being responsive not reactive is so important and how human-centricity unlocks employees, not just folks who use the service. Plus lots more. There are some really valuable lessons you and I — as human-centric problem solvers — can glean from these two. Simon Benjamin is the CEO of Lighthouse Foundation. He has worked in the out-of-home residential care, mental health and disability sectors for over 13 years. He has a great deal of experience working with children, young people and their families from backgrounds of complex trauma and has worked in a number of therapeutic settings, including the Mulberry Bush School in the United Kingdom, a specialist therapeutic community and a recognised international leader in the field. Nick Petrucco leads a management consulting firm HCMC where Nic coaches leaders and their teams to constructively work together to lead meaningful change in modern complex organisations. HCMC is dedicated to affecting positive change in the lives of others, the communities we live in and in the world we share and also has a number of social enterprise projects. Nick volunteers with Lighthouse Foundation.
